Canal du Midi - Part 2

We decided Pete would drive the boat into the first lock after dropping me off on the Canal bank. I walked up to the first lock bollards and Pete got himself close to the wall of the lock, reversed the engine a little and put it into neutral so he could throw the front and back ropes up to me. No easy feat! I looped them around and threw one back for Pete to hold while I held tight to the other while the water started to flood in. Once we were at the height of the 2nd lock it opened and I unlooped and carried the ropes through to the 2nd lock (felt like I was leading a horse!). Pete motored slowly into the next lock and we looped and held ropes tight as we did before. Once we were at the upper canal level I was able to unloop and step back onto the boat and Pete motored out. What a team! We looked like pros as it all worked perfectly. That was not always the case but today we felt like champions.
